Lately I have been enjoying fabric and thread. New for me as I have focused more on painting, collaging, drawing and doodling and I must say I have enjoyed the process.
Humble beginnings!
Finished! Stage two is to stitch this into the front of a new journal I am starting.... I will give it a good ironing first!
Stitching became fun when I finally discovered the best stitches to use for my little project. My first attempt truly was a sad thing in comparison. (Plus it doesn't help that I have sweaty hands!) Thank heaven for Doodle-Stitching, Fresh & Fun Embroidery for Beginners by Aimee Ray. A great book for beginners like me who do not know how to stitch! How to photo's illustrate each stitch, a fabulous resource for getting started and creating your own designs. Plus the Aimee's projects are whimsical, playful and inspiring. I definitely will be doing more stitching, easy project to take in the car.
PS - I also just spotted that Aimee had will be releasing a second book later in 2010! I cannot comment on it yet, but I must say the cover looks very fun.
